The Ultimate Guide to picking the best drills

If you’ve ever felt like the drill world is too big, too confusing or just downright overwhelming, then this blog post is for you.

If you know me, you know I love some Dewalt tools.

Finding the right drill for the job, can make the task feel much easier.

Read on if you can needed to find the right drill for the job.

1.Determine what you need to do. Drills for woodworking, home repairs are all different. Know your needs before you start shopping.

If you’re looking for a drill for woodworking, then you’ll want to consider a drill that has a high torque and variable speed control. A drill with a high torque will help you drill through hardwoods and other dense materials with ease. Variable speed control will allow you to adjust the speed of the drill to match the material you’re working with.

For home repairs, a cordless drill is usually sufficient. A cordless drill is portable and can be used anywhere without having to worry about finding an electrical outlet. Look for a drill that has a comfortable grip and is lightweight so that you can use it for extended periods without getting tired.

If you’re planning on using your drill for heavy labor such as drilling through concrete or metal, then you’ll want to consider a hammer drill. A hammer drill has a special mechanism that allows it to hammer as it drills, making it easier to penetrate hard materials.

2.Think about the weight.

The weight of your drill can have a big impact on how easy it is to use. If you’re new to using power tools or you’re only using your drill for light-duty tasks, then a large, heavy drill can be difficult to handle. You may find that you get tired quickly or that you have trouble controlling the drill. A very light compact drill can be used all day.

3.Consider battery life.

The battery life of your drill can have a big impact on how easy it is to use. If you’re working on a project that requires a lot of drilling, then you don’t want to have to stop and recharge your battery every few minutes. A drill with a long battery life will allow you to work for longer periods without having to stop and recharge.

When it comes to choosing the right battery life for your drill, there are a few things to consider. First, think about the type of work you’ll be doing. If you’re only using your drill for light-duty tasks like hanging pictures or assembling furniture, then a drill with a shorter battery life may be sufficient.

On the other hand, if you’re planning on using your drill for more heavy-duty tasks like drilling through concrete or metal, then you’ll want to choose a drill with a longer battery life that can handle the job.

4.Buy more drills than you need.

Buying more drills than you need may seem like a waste of money, but it can actually save you time and money in the long run. By having multiple drills with different bits and attachments, you’ll be able to switch between tasks more easily without having to change out the bits. By choosing the right drills for your needs, you’ll be able to get the job done more easily and with less downtime.  This is one of the easiest drills with multiple attachments that I have ever used! I’ve used this Milwaukee Fuel Drill/Driver Kit for 2 years now.  It is compact and easy to travel with.

5. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

When it comes to asking for help when using drills, there are a few people you can turn to. First, consider asking friends or family members who have experience with using power tools. You can also turn to online forums or social media groups where you can get advice from others who have worked with similar tools. I had a injury several years back when using a hole saw on my drill.  It unfortunately bound and twisted my wrist causing the drill to flip and turn into my mouth.  Several stiches later, I will have to be hard pressed using hole saws again.
